There was no clock in the room so I tried to set my cell phone to wake me up at 6:00. It didn't work but I was up at 5:30 anyway. It rained quite a bit last night and silly me, I forgot to take my Zebra covered pillow for a seat off the bike. Joni did a great job of making a case for it and hot gluing the Zebra hide pieces all over it. Believe me, it holds water REAL good! It's twice as heavy now that it's wet. So I slipped a garbage bag over it so my butt would not get so wet. The plans for Lolo Pass changed due to the rain. I left to get gas and walked into the store which was a McDonalds too. An older guy was smiling from ear to ear as he handed me a section of the paper. He said that he was just looking at a strange motorcycle on the front page and then up I ride. He was very happy to give me the paper and meet me. As I was eating some breakfast, a young Air Force Airman came in to order. He seemed shocked at first when I shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country. When he realized that I was serious he warmed right up as I told him about the National Veterans Awareness Rides that I have been on the last 3 years. Back to the motel and into the room to watch the weather channel. I don't know why I torture myself like that. Our whole route to Missoula was solid thunderstorms!
I rode to Coeur d'Alene with Mailman and Helen. We went to Lone Wolf Harley Davidson who was hosting a breakfast for us. I met a few more people, including Tony from England. He has been over here since before Sturgis and will be riding all around for about six weeks total. We see eye to eye as he is 6'5" also. After another breakfast I decided to leave with the Motor Company crew. It was a wet ride the whole way. We were prepared for it so it was no big deal. We stopped for fuel and another meal after 110 miles or so. JT treated us all to lunch. I also met John who is in Finance at Harley. They are all super nice people. On the road again to do the last leg into Missoula. Still wet; go figure! We followed everyone to a Super 8 motel and I rode back to the dealership and so did Tony. I called the Motel 6 where I made a reservation this morning and got a room for Tony too. Just then, the skies opened up big time so we waited it out for a while longer. We then rode to the motel and got checked in. It's about 4:30 now. We plan to ride back to the dealership in about an hour or so. Live band and BBQ will be waiting for us. Another wet ride back to the HD shop. More people were gathering and they had BBQ pork for us. The meal was free but a water cost a buck! The drinking fountain worked just fine for me. A few other people came up to me and told me where they saw me and on what run. The ‘Where's Milo’ game sounds like it's working all by itself! I met a gal from Missoula who saw me at a gas station in Eureka, California a couple of months ago. She was quite surprised when I told her that I lived in Roseburg, Oregon. Her brother has a ranch just outside of Roseburg. She said she can't wait to call him to tell him to check out my web site. I got to know a few more people who we are riding with (only in different groups). The dealership was teaching line dancing and they had a cupcake eating contest too. No, I didn't partake in either event! I figured it was time to get back to my room around dark. Still wet! My pillow from the bike is by the heater and my leathers are hanging all over the room. We will see what the weather man brings for us to encounter tomorrow. Good night for now….
