I got to sleep in to 7:00 this morning as we are not leaving until 9:00. I
met Noel & Yvette for breakfast in the motel. There were 11 bikes ready
to go at 9:00. We were in
Minnesota before
we knew it. I had my helmet on cause someone told me there was a helmet law
here. Just before we got to the
Harley
shop in Alexandria I saw a couple of riders with no helmets on and realized
that I was misinformed. After a short visit we continued on a lot more 2 lane
country roads. We were starting to see some of the 10,000 lakes that Minnesota
is known for. The fields were very green and they seemed so alive with color
and wildlife. Our lunch stop came later than normal, around 1:30, and we all
needed it by then. Nice little country place in
Baxter.
I told my cousin Roy that we would probably be at the motel around 4:00. Wouldn’t
you know it that this time we were running a little behind and went to the
Harley shop first! So I rode back to the motel to get Roy and bring him back
to the shop. There was a better turnout with bikes here than the other stops,
partly because we are getting closer to Milwaukee. I met a couple from
Egypt who
were AJ and Horda (sp). They got to San Francisco three weeks ago and have
been riding ever since. They plan to ride with us tomorrow. They both really
love the rat bike, and we got a few pictures with her on the bike as well.
Ron was the auctioneer for a few items that were donated, with the proceeds
going to
MDA. I got the parade pass that I wanted to get. I was the one who
started the bidding at 50 bucks. When nobody else bid I re-bid it to 60 bucks
and asked Ron to mention my Website for all to enjoy. It was all good. Junk
Yard Dog talked to me for a while and he even went home and got a couple of
stickers saying his name, he owns a scrap metal yard in town. He put 2 of
them on my bike and is looking forward to seeing them on there the next time
we meet. We said our thanks to the people who put the party on and headed
off to the motel. A short walk across the parking lot took us to Outback for
dinner. We visited as we ate and then went back to the motel
where I met a few more Canadians who were very interested in my bike. A lot
of laughter and then we made it up to the room. It will be another 9:00am departure
time as we don’t have but a little over 200 miles to go to
Wausau,
Wisconsin.
It should be a very scenic journey tomorrow……..
