It was another good morning as we didn’t have to leave ‘till 9:00. It is sure good having Roy ride with us too. The couple from Egypt were at the Harley shop ready to go with us too. 13 bikes left to do a scenic ride around the southern peninsula of Lake Superior. It was a beautiful ride over the big bridge and to look out at such vast water way it is hard to believe that it is a lake and not an ocean. There was a lot of green pasture farmland and dairy farms everywhere. AJ’s saddle bag lid came off and he pulled over to fix it. Fred & Debbie pulled over with them too. Shortly after that we got off at an exit to take another smaller back road. Roy & I were on the overpass waving at them but they didn’t see us and kept going. I called Debbie at our next stop and told her where we could meet them and they waited for us at a gas station. We rode by about an hour later and they joined back up with us. We stopped for gas and went to a Harley themed restaurant and had lunch off of a Harley logo menu.
We did the last 60 miles to Wausau and went to the motel first. My speedometer stopped working at the last gas stop. I have a spare with me so I changed it at the motel just before going to the Harley shop party. After I changed it I noticed that my sissy bar that holds up my backpack is broke on one side. I took the rope off that I carry on the back and tied it up to my rear crash bars. I pulled it up tight to the top of the bar and made it better for now, at least until I get to Gary & Nancy’s house and weld it. When Roy & I left I noticed that my speedometer still was not working. The whole unit is bad, not just the cable. I’ll have to use my GPS to determine gas stops when I am riding alone back home.
We got to the Harley shop and they tried to make us park on the other side of the street cause the lot was full. I told them that the service dept is waiting for me and they let me through. That one always works! So I parked right next to the entrance to the blocked off area where everything is happening. I was told by JT that Tony from England is right inside and I went to find him. He introduced me to Ozz, his buddy also from England that he picked up in Chicago at the airport. Ozz gave me a five pound note and wrote on it Hi Milo From Ozz , and I asked him who is the gal’s picture on the money. He looked at me like I was crazy and said that’s their Queen of England. He asked me to put it somewhere respectable so I taped it on the inside of my windshield. We got a few pictures of that and went back to the festival grounds where I met Jim Mc Classlin again. He is the president of the Motor Company. I also introduced him to Tony and Ozz and you would think that the guys just met the Queen of England or someone like that. A few more pictures and it’s all good! They had another auction fundraiser and Gary bid on a leather jacket signed by all the big boy’s from Harley that were there. His bid of $250.00 got him a jacket. We hung around for a while longer and at about 8:30 or so the three of us went back to the motel. We visited for a while and we will meet back at the Harley shop for a 9:00 departure for our last day of riding together……..
